The Des Moines Bicycle Collective's Earn-a-Bike program is a great way to empower our community by trading sweat equity for a refurbished bicycle. The participants volunteer in our community bike shop for 20 hours, learning the basics of bike building and maintenance. Once their twenty hours have been completed they can pick out a donated bike and refurbish it themselves to fit their purposes.
