Submission Process

All submissions must be received by Friday, February 17, 2023, to be considered.

Please include a few sentences about yourself and why you’re interested in participating in PedalArt 2023.

By submitting, all artists agree to create unique, original bicycle-themed poster artwork for the 2023 show.

DO NOT submit a proposed poster design. Only artists selected for the show will create a new, original bike-themed design.

Dates
February 17: Portfolio submission deadline; see details above.
March 3: Selected artists announced. Three Des Moines-area professional artists will curate the show.
 
March 17: Artist agreements signed and submitted.

April 25: Poster design submitted.
May 5: Printed posters submitted to the Des Moines Bicycle Collective Shop, 506 E. Sixth Ave (East Village).
May 12: PedalArt Poster Show opens at Confluence Brewing Company, 1235 Thomas Beck Road.
May 13-29: PedalArt Poster show continues at Bike World West Des Moines, 5003 EP. True Pkwy

FAQ
PedalArt Poster Show celebrates Iowa artists and a shared love of cycling. 
It serves as a fundraiser for the Street Collective, a nonprofit organization that champions and advocates for active transportation options that are accessible, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
​
The artist will receive 70% of the sales from posters sold; the remaining 30% benefits the Street Collective. 
​
Artists must create an original design and provide 30 prints and artist proof. Artists may rely on the printmaking style of their choice. Acceptable forms include screen printing, letterpress, relief printing, and lithography. For digital prints, please use high-resolution digital inkjet printing with archival pigments.

All posters are priced at $40/print.
​
Most posters are sold during the gallery opening night. ​
​
The artist retains sole copyright for each design.
​
